ECCB Monetary Council To Meet in St Kitts

The 54th Meeting of the ECCB Monetary Council took place in St Kitts on 20-21 October 2005. Council members received the Governor’s report on monetary and credit conditions and provided directives and guidelines to the Bank, as mandated by the ECCB Agreement 1983, which governs the operations of the Central Bank.
Among the issues for discussion were be the implications of oil prices on the regional economies, as set out in a study undertaken by the Bank, in keeping with a directive from the Council at the 53rd meeting. Council also reviewed the debt portfolio of member states of the Eastern Caribbean Currency Union, and future developments of the money and capital market programme.
