Bermuda seeks investment in telecom sector

July 18th, 2007

Bermuda is seeking fresh investment in telecommunication sector, and has recently launched international tender for licence class Public Telecommunication Service License (PTSL) and a Foreshore License a submarine cable.

“This new cable facility will only enhance our current international connectivity, and will bode well for both business, and residents alike.

As bandwidth requirements for next generation services increase, Bermuda will be well positioned to take full advantage of such services,” said Neletha Butterfield, J.P. M.P., the Minister of the Environment, Telecommunications and E-Commerce.

The minister said the additional cable capacity will ensure that Bermuda’s telecommunications infrastructure remains robust and resilient when compared with competing jurisdictions.

The new cable will enhance international connectivity. Both, commercial and domestic consumers will benefit from it. Bermuda has a great opportunity to take full advantage of services.
