COM+ awards in December

In December 2007, two COM+ Communication Awards of US$10,000 will be granted by the World Bank: one for a campaign that communicates science for people and the planet; and another for a climate change campaign. Issued by COM+ and thus backed by its members.

Rüdiger Assion is to be the new Head of Corporate Communications at Deutsche Börse Group based in Frankfurt. The company announced that Assion will assume his new position on 1 September 2007, and will be responsible for PR, internal communication, Marketing Communication and Events.

The awards recognize the role of communications in attaining sustainable development goals.

Effective communication campaigns raise awareness and understanding of issues, promote increased transparency and dialogue between government and other stakeholders, and influence policy outcomes to provide pathways out of poverty while protecting our valuable environmental resources.

Nominations are invited through September 30, 2007. The Consultative Group on International Agriculture Research (CGIAR) is managing the 2007 COM+ Awards and nominations may be made via the CGIAR website: http://www.cgiar.org/awards/awards_communications.html

Campaign design in terms of promoting sustainable development objective(s); Campaign outcomes and impact such as audience reached, shift in behaviour or change in policy or practice, achieved within less than one year of nomination Creativity and innovation in communications;

The 2007 awards will be presented to the winners at the upcoming CGIAR Annual General Meeting (Beijing, December 2007) and the 13th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (Bali, December 2007).
